Applying to Shasta College/California Residency
California community college enrollment fees for California residents are $46/unit. For nonresidents, the fees are $326/unit. Due to California laws AB540 and SB68, public colleges in California (Community Colleges, California State Universities, and Universities of California) are allowed to determine if students who are undocumented can qualify for an exemption to nonresident tuition.
When you apply to Shasta College, you will use the California Community Colleges application called CCC Apply. In that application, you will be asked questions about your citizenship status and residency. Answer the questions fully.
- You will initially be considered a nonresident for tuition purposes.
- You will be contacted by our office via email from admissions@shastacollege.edu to let you know that your CA Residency status is pending.
- Make sure you submit the AB540 Affidavit (California Nonresident Tuition Exemption Application) so we can determine if you are eligible for an exception to the nonresident tuition.
Follow the steps on Complete the California Dream Act Application to apply to Shasta College, for financial aid, and AB540 Affidavit (California Nonresident Tuition Exemption Application).
