The Career Café staff are dedicated to serving the needs of Shasta College students while providing a valuable service to local employers.
Our goal is to connect interested students to internship and work-based learning opportunities throughout their education. In addition, we’re committed to helping you prepare for employment by providing a variety of resources that will help your resume and applications stand out during any job or internship search!

Job Search
Below are links to resources to help you in your job search. They are provided for informational purposes.
There are limited employment opportunities on campus for students attending Shasta College. The best time of the year to find a campus job is early in the Fall or Spring semesters. There are three types of campus jobs:
- Regular Campus Jobs are positions on campus that are funded by individual departments that need student assistants or tutors. You must be enrolled in at least six (6) units. Not all campus jobs are posted on the Job Board. For the majority of regular campus jobs, it is best to contact the departments directly to see if they have any openings.
- Federal Work Study jobs are available to eligible students receiving Financial Aid. Apply by completing the FASFA and checking "yes" to Work Study. If you are eligible, the Financial Aid office will contact you once your file is processed.
- Cal WORKS Work Study is a work experience program limited to students enrolled in the Cal WORKS program.
- Ziprecruiter assists in getting quality candidates through the site within the first day. As candidates apply, their resume and profile information will appear on your Candidate Dashboard.
- Yahoo! Jobs has joined forces with Monster! to provide fast and effective job search resources in Redding.
- Cal JOBS is the EDD's Internet based employment opportunity system for California.
- Craigslist (Redding) has local listings of job opportunities
- Internsource is a program of the Community College Foundation which contracts with private companies and government agencies to recruit, hire and manage student employees for various positions within their organizations.
- ReddingHelpWanted.com offers many free services and search for jobs you've been looking for.
- SimplyHired.com searches thousands of job sites and companies and offers many tools to find local jobs, identify trends, and research salaries.
- Indeed.com is a user friendly search engine giving job seekers free access to employment opportunities from thousands of websites along with trends, salary information and forums.
- Monster.com is an extensive site you can search for jobs, post resumes, research companies and obtain career advice and salary information.
- SnagAJob.com is the nation's largest part-time and full-time hourly job site.
- USA Jobs is the official job site of the United States Federal Government, and is a one-stop source for federal jobs and employment information.
- State Personnel Board provide the most comprehensive and current information available on state job openings and civil service exams.
- Shasta County lists the available jobs working for Shasta County.
- City of Anderson lists the available jobs working for the city of Anderson.
- City of Redding lists the available jobs working for the city of Redding.
- City of Shasta Lake lists the available jobs working for the city of Shasta Lake.
- Tehama County lists the available jobs working for Tehama County.
- Projections of Employment by Industry and Occupation estimate the changes in industry and occupational employment over time resulting from industry growth, changes in technology, and other factors. These data are commonly called "occupational outlook" or "demand occupations".
- CalWORKs Job List is a one stop center for Shasta County residents that need training or employment services.
- SMART Center is updated every Wednesday with the most recent job postings from multiple sites ranging from part-time, entry-level to full-time, government positions with direct links to the business and/or application process.
- State Personnel Board constitutionally established in 1934, the State Personnel Board (SPB) is responsible for California's Civil Service System. SPB ensures that the State's civil service system is free from political patronage and that employment decisions are based on merit. The SPB provides a variety of recruitment, selection, classification, appellate, goal setting, training and consultation services to state departments. The SPB also promotes efficiency and economy in state government and is a leader in efforts to improve and reform civil service practices.
- America's Career InfoNet includes information about employment trends (generally and by industry), wages (by occupation and state), state profiles, job leads, over 3,500 links to career web sites, and a career exploration guide.
- America's Job Bank includes job listings, online resumes and an online job search.
- America's Service Locator contains information on service providers that are relevant to employment and training. Here you will find information on services ranging from One-Stop Career Centers to child care providers and transportation services.
- US Department of Labor includes employment projections, labor force statistics, job information and outlook and a career guide to industries.
- Salary.com The No. 1 salary calculator, used more than 40 million times per year. A quick guide based on national salary surveys, the Salary Wizard reports an average salary unadjusted for company size, industry pay differentials, and your experience.
