The Shasta College Vocal Institute will be presenting a concert of opera scenes and arias on Thursday evening, August 13, at 7:00 p.m.in the Shasta College Theatre. The concert is the final and concluding presentation of the Vocal Institute, a three-week class of intensive daily instruction in singing and acting. The Institute brings together former students of the College who have gone on to achieve success in the world of vocal music with the next generation of serious singing students. This year the Institute staff includes former Shasta College student Sydney Mancasola, winner of the 2013 Metropolitan Opera auditions.  The concert is open to the public, and will feature scenes from four operas: Bellini’s “I Puritani”, Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly”, Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore”, and Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus”.  Besides the four operas, the evening will include arias and duets, all under the baton of Robert Waterbury, Director of the Vocal Institute. Tickets are available at the door for $7.00 general admission, and $5.00 for students and seniors.
