Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Upward Bound Programs Director, maintain effective collaboration and communication with the Shasta County Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search grant partners, grant participants, and potential partners. Analyze, plan, and support grant services and projects in collaboration with grant directors, partners, Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search site advisors, and school districts. Work with grant directors to develop and analyze the effectiveness of academic outreach programs designed to increase the number of college eligible and college bound students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Work with all program staff to analyze evaluation and program data, and assess needs of participants and partners. Represent UC Davis at workshops, meetings and conferences; develop written material for program publications; help to coordinate summer programs. Administer and coordinate grant workshops, conferences, events, campus visits, parent conferences and other grant outreach activities. Involves analytical studies on a variety of policies, projects, programs and issues in support of a function, research initiative, program and/or organizational unit, or in research of new or changing systems and programs. Assists in policy and program planning, development, administration, management and implementation; interprets, monitors and analyzes information regarding policies and procedures and provides consultative services to department administrators and other stakeholders. The Shasta County Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search Programs are located in Redding, CA (2.5 hours north of Davis) and work in partnership with administrators, educators and students in all levels of education (K-16) in Shasta County.

Requirements

Required:

-Experience coordinating and evaluating special events, programs and workshops.

-Financial management and accounting experience preparing accurate budget projections, expenditure analyses ad reconciliation of expenses.

-Experience working in an environment that requires interpersonal and communication skills to create and maintain professional collaborative working relationships.

-Experience using computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and data base platforms.

-Experience multi-tasking, organizing workload, and meeting multiple deadlines, skills to set priorities and adapt to changing work priorities.

-Experience performing analysis to interpret evaluation data and education policy.

-Writing, editing, and proofreading skills to produce correspondence, presentations, reports that reflect high attention to detail and the standards of professionalism of an executive office.

Preferred:

-Experience with Aggie Travel, Pre-Purchasing System, DaFis, and other UC Davis systems.

-Advanced Excel and data base software skills and experience using spreadsheets in a variety of ways.

-Experience and/or Knowledge of TRIO programs.

-Bilingual, Spanish Speaking.

Background Check

This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity checks. This position is subject to the California Department of Motor Vehicles Pull Notice System. This position requires a Pre-Employment Physical.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work on computer for extended periods of time (6-8 hours per day), occasional transporting of meeting, event materials and supplies from offices to meeting sites, school sites, partner locations, and event locations. Occasionally handling carts or driving university or personal vehicles to transport materials. Occasionally handling small furniture and/or equipment. Lift/maneuver office supplies weighing up to 25 lbs
