Job Description

Ready for Life Foster Family Agency is seeking a qualified childcare worker for a full-time position. Looking for a qualified applicant with a minimum of 2 years’ experience caring for multiple children ages 3 months to 4 years. This position is Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm

Safety & Cleanliness

  • Clean and sanitize all toys, surfaces, and any high-frequency touchpoints like doorknobs, light switches, etc. Clean and sanitize the Family Restroom weekly.
  • Use equipment and supplies safely and conscientiously, keeping the physical environment clean and orderly, returning everything to its appropriate place
  • Maintain a safe, clean, care-giving environment, practices good personal hygiene and handwashing, and assures the wellbeing and safety of all of the children in that environment. This includes routines related to diapering, eating, napping, and transitioning between activities.
  • Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of emergency procedures.

Child Development

  • Promote feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers.
  • Provide experiences that promote individual expression through conversation, play, and creativity. Talk, sing, and read to infants and toddlers frequently.
  • Assist the child care worker in facilitating the daily schedule. Work as a team to accomplish necessary tasks, coming up with age-appropriate activities, facilitating circle time, etc.
  • Celebrate with the child as they reach new milestones and goals. Encourage and have fun through imaginative play and activities.
  • Respect infants' and child’s curiosity about each other; ensure children treat each other gently.

Care & Discipline

  • Respond quickly in a soothing and tender manner to cries or calls of distress. Provide daily care individually to each infant, including but not limited to, diapering every 2 hours and feeding on demand to ensure consistent response to need for food and comfort.
  • Tend to children's personal hygiene needs, remaining especially attentive to them during routines such as diaper changing, cleaning, feeding, and changing soiled or wet clothes.
  • Observes children to detect signs of illness, injury, abuse, neglect, emotional disturbance, or other special needs, and reports these signs immediately to your supervisor.
  • Discipline children in an age-appropriate manner, using redirecting primarily and if redirection doesn’t work, pull the child aside and give them a two minute time out with sand timer. Be sure to explain why and what happened.

Communication

  • Ensure parents receive adequate information about their child's experiences through daily contact logs or “ouch” reports.
  • Complete “Potty Boards” and assist with potty training.
  • Post schedule on Google Calendar and keep updated with any changes (days off, leaving early, appointments, etc). Check email daily.
  • Maintain confidentiality of child and family information at all times.
  • Attends all training opportunities as provided and scheduled. Performs any other tasks deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience caring for multiple children ages 3 months to 4 years.
