Job Description

The Central Coast Region's (Region4) Coastal Fisheries Team is looking for one Fish and Wildlife Scientific Aid to work with a dedicated team of fisheries professionals to assist in the implementation of data collection and data management to further the implementation of the statewide Coastal Monitoring Plan for steelhead populations in Monterey County, primarily focused within the Big Sur River area. The selected candidate will assist with hiking streams to assesses limits of anadromy to finalize the development of the Sample Frame and will also conduct steelhead population assessments within this frame using a variety of field methods (e.g. sonar camera video, spawning surveys, snorkel surveys, seining surveys, electro-shocking surveys, fish tagging). Data entry and analysis are also key components for this position and the selected candidate will assist in the development statistically-valid status and trend steelhead population datasets.

Requirements

Possession of a valid driver license. and Either I Education: Equivalent to completion of two years of college with a minimum of 10 semester hours in biological or chemistry sciences.
