Job Description

Are you a parent, teacher, or college student seeking seasonal summer employment? Redding Recreation is looking for a Summer Camp Coordinator Extraordinaire to work part-time hours in April and May, with full-time hours starting June-August. Primary responsibilities for this role entail planning and organizing Summer Camp Activities for kids ages 5-12 and supervising part-time Recreation staff as they implement your summer schedule of fun.

Good leadership skills and an understanding of child development is vital to this role as you will be the mastermind behind the summer shenanigans and head honcho in charge of all Summer Camp Counselors. The 2022 Summer of Fun is yours to command!

Requirements

Knowledge of:

Recreation leadership techniques and specific planning and organization of childcare programming; recreation and its application; safety and emergency first-aid procedures; program management; customer service principles; and budget management.

Ability to:

Successfully establish and maintain safe environments for children.

Perform first aid and/or CPR in an emergency.

Work productively without supervision within established organizational policies and procedures.

Provide superior customer service and resolve customer complaints and escalating problems.

Effectively manage employees and budgets.

Recruit, supervise, train, evaluate, and motivate employees.

Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbally.

Have the ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

Provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, and supervisors, and interact with employees in a professional manner.

Education:

Typical education would include a high school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of experiences and education that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience:

The equivalent of two years of relevant program area and/or supervisory experience. Experience working with children in a camp or after school or daycare setting.

Special Requirements:

Possession of the appropriate California driver's license, or the ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment. Must possess valid First Aid and CPR certification and same certifications required by employees supervised
