Job Description

Our program provides young adults 18 – 25 years old a year of paid service to the State of California. During their year of service, Corpsmembers work on environmental projects and respond to natural and man-made disasters. Through this work, they gain skills and experience that lead to meaningful careers. We are dedicated to developing our Corpsmembers into citizens with character, credentials, and commitment.

Requirements

Individuals joining the California Conservation Corps must be:

  • 18-25 years of age, or military veterans up through age 29
  • A California resident
  • Able to successfully pass fingerprint and background check, drug test, physical exam and training
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions
  • Willing and able to respond to emergencies and be away from home or assigned center for two weeks or longer
  • Willing and able to participate in the CCC education program
  • Military veterans ages 26-29 must be in possession of a DD214 with a discharge status of Honorable or General under Honorable Conditions

Additional Information

  • Corpsmembers can earn up to $8,000 in scholarships during their first year of service.
  • Offer charter high school enrollment on-site, providing Corpsmembers with the opportunity to earn their high school diploma during their time in the CCC.
  • Provide training for Fire Type I & Type II training.
  • Programs such as the Australia Exchange Program, Backcountry Trails, as well as Save the Sierra Program.
