Rate of Pay Interns: $52,888 - $55,507/year

Days / Hours 193 days/year, with additional days available during the summer

Job Description

  • Conducts psycho-educational assessments and diagnosis of specific learning, emotional, and behavioral disabilities, including, but not limited to, case study evaluation, recommendations for remediation or placement in special programs or pertinent psycho-educational interventions
  • Consults with teachers in the development and implementation of classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate pupil learning and to overcome learning and behavior disorders
  • Aids teachers in parent conferences, pupil evaluation sessions, and subsequent pupil profiling of learning strengths and weaknesses
  • Consults with school administrators regarding appropriate learning objectives for children
  • Plans development and remedial programs for students in regular and special school programs
  • In collaboration with other members of the Student Study Team, plans, devises, and recommends instructional materials and learning programs for pupils with special needs.
  • Consults with parents to assist in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of children
  • Consults with individual pupils regarding the nature of their learning and behavior problems
  • Participates in in-service training to District staff
  • Provides referral and consultation services to and with community agencies; serves as liaison between the school, the family and the selected community resource when the therapeutic, academic and/or social services are provided
  • Advises secondary counselors on the need for pupil program changes
  • May act as designated administrator at District IEP meetings, under the immediate supervision of the Director of Special Education
  • Writes reports, maintaining records, and ensuring confidentiality
  • Assists in coordination of District plan during crises on the school site
  • Utilizes various methods of counseling interventions as appropriate to individual situations
  • Participates and consults with staff regarding the entry of student data related to students with special needs as required by law
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Must be enrolled in a Pupil Personnel Services Credential Program for School Psychology. The application attachments must include: 1. a current resume 2.
