“Shasta Vocal Institute Concert”
REDDING – Shasta College’s annual summer Vocal Institute, now in its 13th year, will culminate in a special concert of operatic scenes and arias. The concert will take place in the Shasta College Theatre on Thursday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m., capping the three-week course of intensive vocal and dramatic studies. Featured operatic scenes include Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”, Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman”, and Britten’s “The Rape of Lucretia”. From the Broadway stage the students will sing selections from “The Music Man” by Meredith Willson. The evening will also include solos and scenes performed by recent graduates, including tenor Rafael Delsid and baritone Chris Withrow.
