Enjoy what many critics have hailed as "the perfect musical comedy," and "the best and most exciting thing of its kind!"-- the summer musical production "Guys and Dolls!" premiers this summer at the Shasta College Theatre. Winner of a bevy of awards, including TONY Awards, Drama Desks, and Oliviers the Broadway musical comedy is based upon the stories of the incomparable Damon Runyon and the book by Joe Swirling and Abe Burrows. Thirty five accomplished North State actors, singers and dancers will bring the music and lyrics of Frank Loesser to life with performances designed for the entire family!

“Guys and Dolls!” will open on Thursday, July 9th at 7:30 P.M. Performances will continue for 3 weeks on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, July 9th-25th at 7:30 P.M. with two special Sunday afternoon matinees on July 12th and 19th at 2:00 P.M.

Just like last summer, show times are expected to sell out so please consider pre-purchasing tickets early. Tickets are available online through the Shasta College website. Tickets will also be available at the door for shows that don’t sell out for $12 (general admission) and $10 (seniors and students).

Set in a mythical 1920-30’s New York City, “Guys and Dolls” is an oddball romantic comedy with gangsters, gamblers, girlfriends and one straight-laced missionary the combination of which gives rise to plenty of laughs and memorable musical numbers.

Under the musical direction of Dr. Elizabeth Waterbury and featuring original choreography by Roni Grandell, "Guys and Dolls" promises to be another smash hit production from the Shasta College Theatre Department in the tradition of other great musicals such as last summer’s “Chicago”. “Guys and Dolls!” is directed by Ken Hill with set design by David Fraser and costume design by Hillary Wilson-Fahey. “Guys and Dolls!” is produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
