Shasta College’s Division of Arts, Communications and Social Sciences presents an English-language performance of the comic opera "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart.  In this opera, an arrogant, aristocratic Count tries to reinstate the ancient right of the master to spend the wedding night with any of his female servants that are marrying. He has his eye on the pretty chamber maid, Susanna, who is to wed his servant, Figaro. Naturally, Both Susanna and the Count's wife object, and they plot to defeat the Count's plan. The result is an evening of high comedy, tempered by the real pathos of the Countess's sadness over her husband's infidelity.

Performances will take place in the Shasta College theatre, Friday and Saturday nights, Jan. 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3:00 p.m.; and Thursday thru Saturday, Jan. 30 thru Feb. 1 at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are available at the door for $12.00 (general admission) and $8.00 (seniors and students), or online through the Shasta College website (www.shastacollege.edu).  For more information call the Division of Arts, Communications and Social Sciences at (530) 242-7730.
