I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do before coming to Shasta College. From my involvement with my high school’s agriculture and FFA programs I knew that I loved the outdoors, animals, and working with my hands. Shasta College allowed me to discover my passion. The teachers at Shasta College are amazing! They care about you and do everything in their power to help you succeed.

While here, I have been able to try many different things from farming to animal care, and welding to shop work. I have attended agricultural industry tours and field trips and heard from many professionals from within the industry. I received my first two paid internships through Shasta College; one with The McConnell Foundation on their Cattle Grazing and Land Restoration project and the other with the Shasta College RAC Crew, a trail restoration and educational forestry crew. I have a third internship, if I am accepted, with the University of Nevada, Reno.

I’ve found my passion and a set of goals because of Shasta College. Once I graduate I hope to be a Rangeland Manager, or a Range Specialist and to eventually work in the private industry managing a large ranch. I am excited beyond my wildest expectations for what lies ahead!
