More on that below in our story about TimelyMD. Keep reading.

Yesterday was National Compliment Day. So, make someone smile and pay them with something they’ll carry around all day—a sincere compliment.

Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

TimelyMD

This is your brain... This is your brain on a global pandemic, a fire tornado/snow storm/PSPS, a failed test, a tough day...sound familiar? If you're fried, or maybe just a little hard-boiled, let us suggest a little help. We've partnered with TimelyMD to give you free and immediate access to mental health support 24/7. Who is TimelyMD? Glad you asked. TimelyMD is a leading telehealth company specializing in higher education.

Think of them as an extension of our campus Student Health & Wellness Office available anytime you need to talk. Yep, even on late evenings, weekends, and holidays. It's easy to access and enroll through the TimelyCare app on your phone or another device. The best part, it's FREE (remember, that's our favorite word). If you think that's cool check out their weekly guided meditation and Yoga Group Sessions!

If you're as big a fan of our on-site Psychological Counselor, Nicole Smith, as we are, never fear! She's still available either in-person in the Student Health & Wellness Office, Room 2020 during our normal business hours, or via telehealth.

Want one more reason to check them out? Register by February 18, 2022, and you'll be entered to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card! Sweet!

DATES & DEADLINES

Drop It Like A Bad Habit

Last Call! Maybe taking 21 units wasn't such a hot idea, or the reality of waking up that early for lecture really isn't your cuppa tea. Either way January 28 (as in THIS Friday) is the last chance for you to drop a full-term class without it appearing on your record. Have the opposite problem? Looking to fill in your schedule and get done sooner with your degree in hand (we won't take offense)? The same date to add/register a full-term class.

TUTORING & LEARNING CENTER

Get A Little Help Studying

Let's face it, math can be tough! Okay, and that essay where we have to use MLA style and use gud grammar? What's up with that? And don't get us started on science! Luckily there are the helpful smart people at the Tutoring and Learning Center who love to spend the time helping the rest of us make our essays shine, unravel math problems, and make science, well, understandable.

All services are online and FREE (yeah, our favorite word again) to all Shasta College students. Access is easier than ever! Simply make an appointment online to get connected with a tutor for your one-on-one appointment. We were even able to figure that out. The Tutoring Services we offer are:

  • Peer-to-Peer Tutoring in Math, Business, Science, Writing, Computer/Canvas, World Languages, & more…
  • Drop-in Tutoring is available for select subjects.
  • Supplemental Instruction/Embedded Tutors are provided in select math, science, and English courses – Ask your professor if they offer this additional support!
  • Workshops and Recorded Video- Join a live workshop or get access to pre-recorded videos with tips and tricks
  • Net-Tutor- Get help outside of online Learning Center hours (8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.) through Net Tutor.

TRANSPORTATION

Students Ride For Free

  • RABA for Students: There's our favorite word again...Free. As in no charge, zero clams. And when you start looking at the price of gas these days the Ride RABA For Free program for students looks better than that note from your instructor telling you they don't believe in pop-quizzes. Here's the scoop:
  • Students must show their current Shasta College Student ID card to the bus operator when boarding. The card must have a validation sticker for the current academic semester.
  • To purchase a student ID follow these steps for contactless services. Or, students can schedule an appointment to visit the Student Senate Office to take their photo, pay, and receive their ID. https://calendly.com/sc-studentlife/student-senate-id-card
  • The Burney Express service is not part of this agreement.
