"See the Vision, Live the Dream" Essay Contest

In the great tradition of the labor movement's advocacy for civil rights, the Shasta College Faculty Association is proud to sponsor an essay contest to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.  The essay contest is open for all Shasta College students registered for the Fall 2013 semester.  The theme of the essay is "See the Vision, Live the Dream." Essays should address how the March on Washington is relevant today, and how the student's academic and professional goals illustrate the essay theme.  The contest winner will receive $200, and the runner-up will receive $100.  Each participant will receive a $5 gift certificate from the Shasta College Bookstore.  Each entry should be between five and ten typed, double-spaced pages.  Also, included should be the writer's name, student identification number, and e-mail address.  All entries must be turned into the circulation desk of the Shasta College Library by 5:00 PM on Friday, December 13, 2013.  Essay award winners will be announced on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, January 20, 2014.
