As the Superintendent/President of Shasta College, I appreciate and congratulate you on your interest in attending Shasta College. For almost 75 years Shasta College has served the needs of our District with its outstanding educational and support programs. Whether your goal is to transfer to a four-year institution, complete a certificate that will lead to gainful employment, or simply gain new skills in your current employment, we strive to provide an environment that allows every student to feel welcome, included, but also challenged and supported—an environment in which every student can thrive and succeed.

Your success is our mission! Our student services staff stands ready, willing, and able to answer any questions to help you begin your educational journey. Our faculty members have your success in mind as they continually sharpen their skills and work to enhance your learning experiences in their classrooms and labs. Our entire team wants to help you achieve your educational goals, whether it be at our Redding, Tehama, Trinity, or Intermountain campus, or online.

I invite you to explore some of the many engagement opportunities that are available to you at Shasta College. This includes music and theater performances, over a dozen sports, various student clubs, and Student Senate. I encourage you to get involved in areas that interest you, as being involved in such activities only serves to enhance your educational experience and provides opportunities to connect with others and to practice and sharpen the skills you are learning in your courses.

We are at the end of another year – Shasta’s 73rd. I am looking forward to the commencement ceremony this Friday at 7pm. The speaker is Dr. Lizette Navarette, Interim Deputy Chancellor for our system. Thanks to all involved in planning and preparing for this wonderful day of celebration.

It sure was nice to see our community gather and celebrate our students at graduation last Friday night. A huge thank you goes out to all involved, especially student services for their great coordination, as well as physical plant, campus safety, and food services. I have a few updates to share today focusing around some Success Stories: Congratulations to our Starbucks store manager, Nick Koenig, who was awarded Manager of the Quarter last month. He was voted #1 out of 165 stores in our region for customer care, teamwork and performance. Congratulations to Nick and his hard-working team at Starbucks!

It can be disheartening and causing added stress in our lives at a time when we have had many difficulties over the past few years with the various emergencies we have faced.
