Shasta Tehama Trinity Joint Community College District 403(b) and 457(b) Plans have been adopted to provide you with the opportunity to save for retirement on a tax advantaged basis.

What is a 403(b) / 457(b) plan?

The IRS created retirement savings plans for various groups to encourage retirement savings by offering tax benefits. They developed the 403(b) for non-profit organizations and the 457(b) for state employees. Contributions to these plans are made directly from your paycheck before taxes are taken out - reducing your tax bill while saving for retirement.

Permanent Shasta College employees are eligible to participate in voluntary, employee-paid 403(b) and/or 457(b) retirement plans.  Please note part-time permanent employees and faculty who may not be covered under PERS or STRS may also participate in 403(b) plans.

This Summary of Plan Provisions Documents (linked below) contain information regarding when you may become eligible to participate in the plans, plan benefits, your distribution options, and many other features of the plans.

You may contribute up to $23,000 in 2024 to each plan, in addition to qualifying for additional catchup limits. Please see the current Retirement Plan Limits document for more information.
