Tim Shelton
Chemistry Instructor
Full Time
My name is Tim Shelton and I have been teaching full-time at Shasta College since 2016 after earning my Ph.D. for Inorganic Chemistry at UC Davis. I studied Artificial Photosynthesis under Dr. Frank Osterloh.
I fell in love with Chemistry while taking a Gen Chem course as an aspiring pre-Dental student at Butte Community College and have been focused on becoming a chemistry teacher ever since. Including a 3 year stint at Chico State I have conquered all three levels of California's public higher education system (CCC, CSU, UC). I am passionate about learning and truly love the opportunity to teach about "The Central Science".
A little about me: I'm from Paradise, CA and have been visiting my grandparents in Redding since I was a baby. Speaking of babies, I have three wonderful kids and my wife is amazing. We've been joyfully married since 2008.
I'm a big fan of the outdoors. I enjoy peak bagging, backpacking, sustained bipedal off-road locomotion (trail running), dream of hiking the PCT with my kids when they are old enough (is 8 too young?), have become enamored with Obstacle Course Racing (Spartan Ultra Beast Finisher!), attend The Stirring Church weekly, and do burpees and Turkish getups in my office for fun. Come by and say hi!
