The chart below shows the number of units you would need to complete out of the number of units attempted to maintain a 67% Pacce. A 67% PACE is the minimum requirement for SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress).

PACE is calculated on cumulative units, not semester by semester.

Example 1:

PACE Calculations are completed by dividing the number of completed units by the number of attempted units.

Jimmy’s first semester at Shasta College he enrolls in 12 units. He drops 6 units with a “w”. His Cumulative and semester PACE would be 50% he would then be placed on warning for not completing at least 67% of all cumulative attempted units.

Jimmy’s PACE Calculation: 6 units completed ÷ 12 units attempted = 0.5 or 50%

Example 2:

Sally has completed three semesters at Shasta College and has a total of 36 attempted units and 30 completed units. She enters her fourth semester and enrolls in 15 units. Sally receives a job offer and has to drop all of her classes with a “W”. Her total attempted units at the end of her fourth semester would be 51 units and her total completed units would be 30 units. Her cumulative PACE would be 59%.

Sally’s PACE calculation: 30 units completed ÷ 51 units attempted = 0.588 or 59%.

This would put sally into a warning status and she would need to complete at least 12 units the following semester to reach the 67% mark. [(30+12) divided by (51+12) = .667 or 67%]
