Freehand Drawing

This course focuses on the principles, elements, and practices of drawing, employing a wide range of subject matter and drawing media, with emphasis on perceptually based drawing, observational skills, technical abilities and creative responses to materials and subject matter.

Figure Drawing

This is a course in creative drawing of the nude human figure using a wide variety of techniques.  Emphasis is placed on anatomy, proportion, composition, and development of personal expression.  Topics include an examination of the historical and contemporary roles of figure drawing in the visual arts.  Students will learn both descriptive and interpretive approaches to figure drawing.
