Physiology

Physiology 1 (PHY-1) is a study of cellular, tissues, and organ function in the human body. This is a college level course surveying the elements of human physiology in selected organ systems with an emphasis on their control and integration. The course is presented in a lecture/discussion format with appropriate audio visual aids to emphasize selected concepts. Experiments are performed in the laboratory to illustrate functional characteristics of cells, membranes, and organ systems discussed in lecture and to provide direct experience with lab techniques, recording systems, and methods of data analysis. Some previous knowledge of anatomy and chemistry is helpful, but not required for success in the course. This course is a prerequisite for A.D.N. and Dental Hygiene programs.
