Non-Discrimination Statement Guidelines
Shasta College is an entity which receives Federal funding in the form of financial aid for our students. Receipt of Federal funds creates a requirement to include a non-discrimination statement in all printed and electronic materials provided to the general public. The general public is defined as individuals who are not Shasta College employees and includes both students and non-students.
Guidelines for Non-Discrimination Statement Notices
Shasta College is an entity which receives Federal funding in the form of financial aid for our students. Receipt of Federal funds creates a requirement to include a non-discrimination statement in all printed and electronic materials provided to the general public. The general public is defined as individuals who are not Shasta College employees and includes both students and non-students. Following are the guidelines suggested by our legal counsel which outline the non-discrimination statement to be used depending upon the printed or electronic material.
Font Size
The statement must be readable. No less than 8-point font is preferred.
Full Non-Discrimination Statement
The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (“Shasta College”) does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religious preference, age, disability (physical and mental), pregnancy (including pregnancy, childbirth, and medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth), gender identity, sexual orientation, genetics, military or veteran status or any other characteristic protected by applicable law in admission and access to, or treatment in employment, educational programs or activities at any of its campuses. Shasta College also prohibits harassment on any of these bases, including sexual harassment, as well as sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.

In addition to the above statement, it is acceptable for the brochure to state:
Shasta College encourages students to pursue nontraditional careers in the workforce. Each occupational course/program at Shasta College is open to females and males equally.
