Great Presenters Needed!

We are learner centered and service oriented. Our goal is to facilitate quality-based and innovative educational opportunities for members of our community - people of all ages and interests.

If you have a vocation or special skill you don't see offered in our catalog and enjoy teaching, we want to hear from you. We are continually seeking new program ideas and talented presenters to add to our lifelong learning community!

We are committed to the continuous expanding and developing of new classes for youth and adults. Our community members look to Community Education for lifelong learning as a resource to enhance their personal and professional development. Presenters and subject matter experts are in high demand to help us teach our community the skills they need to discover a passion, learn a new activity, follow a cultural pursuit, find a calling, develop a skill set, create a career, raise awareness, satisfy curiosity, or find some bliss.

Presenter Selection Process

Presenters may apply at any time by submitting a completed Class Proposal Outline form along with your resume. If you have questions, we will be glad to assist you in completing your proposal form. All proposals must be submitted via email to comm-ed@shastacollege.edu. Once we have had the opportunity to review the proposal, we will either contact you for an interview or notify you that we have decided not to offer the class you proposed.

Preferred Qualifications

Potential presenters should have four years of education, experience, or a combination of education and experience in their subject area along with related teaching experience (preferred but not required). Also, strong written and oral communication skills along with course development experience. Community Education presenters are contracted with as independent contractors unless already employed by the college. We are looking for qualified presenters with availability to teach day, evening, and/or weekend classes.

Role of the Presenter

The presenter is expected to design the course, effectively convey the information contained in the class as described to participants in the class outline and to take responsibility for positive leadership of the class.  The presenter suggests and then works with the Community Education staff to determine the number of class sessions, days of the week, preferred hours, materials, and, minimum/maximum number of students. Additionally, our presenters are their own best marketers. It is expected that our presenters make every effort to promote their course and fills the seats! 

Proposals, Deadlines, and Locations

The class proposal form asks you a series of questions that will assist you in putting your thoughts on paper. This will help us understand what you would like to offer and how you plan to conduct the class. Examples of class descriptions can be found in our current catalog that can be viewed online in a pdf format on the Community Ed homepage. Community Education classes are offered throughout the year and are not bound by semester time frames. Proposals may be submitted any time during the year. Email comm-ed@shastacollege.edu to request a proposal form.

Classes may be offered at all Shasta College locations: Main Campus, Downtown Redding Campus, Tehama Campus, and Trinity Campus. They may also be offered anywhere off campus at an approved location.

Shasta College Community Education Classes

The programs and classes advertised in our catalog are all fee-based, not-for-credit offerings supervised by the College's Community Education office. While some of the instructional staff includes many faculty/adjunct faculty from the regular degree programs, the classes are not supervised by the academic departments and are not transferable for academic credit. These fee-based, not-for-credit programs are self-sustaining through the fees charged.

Business & Industry Training - Experienced Trainers Needed!

We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated professionals who are actively involved in the business community and are on the leading edge of training strategies and solutions. We are looking for subject matter experts with training and experience that enable them to customize and present information with practical application in a business environment.

The Business Training Center at Shasta College provides customized employee training to businesses. Our interactive modules focus on areas of specific concern to employers. They are designed to address scenarios that occur in a business setting, ensuring that employees can immediately apply to their job the skills they have learned.
